Welcome to U.S. Hwy. 90 / Mahan Drive Project

Project

The purpose of this project is to widen the existing two lane roadway from County Road 0353/Dempsey Mayo Road to Walden Road near Interstate 10, to a four lane facility. The overall length of the project is 3.8 miles.

Improvements include the addition of a 22’ median, 4’ bike lanes, a 5’ wide straight sidewalk on the north side of the corridor, and a 5’ to 10’ wide meandering sidewalk on the south side of the corridor. Curbs, gutters and storm water facilities are also being added. Travel lanes will be 12’ wide.

The Edenfield Road, Champagne Drive/Pedrick Road and Vineland Road intersections will be signalized. The Thornton Road intersection with U.S. Hwy. 90 / Mahan Drive will receive a flashing beacon.

A 165’ bridge will be constructed over Alford Arm. It will feature 12’ travel lanes, paved shoulders and sidewalks on both the north and south sides. The estimated cost for this project is $19.5 Million.
